I've been making supporting the #opensource projects I use a priority in 2025. #NixOS #hyprland #logseq (though that's as much a subscription as a donation these days)
There's so much great work being done by the community, but many of them need money to make it work, and make it worthwhile.
2/N: In the last few months, after the Awesome window manager basically packed it in, I've transitioned to #Hyprland. Sadly, there have been no updates to the Debian Hyprland packages in quite some time. All the online resources for installing and maintaining Hyprland are for users of the Arch distro. (Dunno enough about Arch to know why this is the case.)

Anybody have Wayland-compatibile tiling compositor (WM) recommenddations? I'd been using #xmonad for years, but it doesn't work with Wayland. #KDE #Plasma with #bismuth was good for me, but Bismuth doesn't work with latest Plasma. I've really not found anything good with Gnome, and the options like #sway and #hyprland require a bunch of time to configure and don't do things like remembering what to do when I plug in different external monitors like KDE does. I appreciate KDE's automation.

It seems wayvnc combined with wlvncc just works on Hyprland.
Took me 1 minute. Now they both go into my configuration.nix

Now that your goals are set, we just need to put into the work.

Hints for a calm #desktop environment:
- No dock (#yofi)
- No system trail
- No desktop icons
- No window title bar (#hyprland)
- Boring notifications (#dunst)
- Grayscale wallpaper

у меня проблема с #Hyprland: недавно появился второй монитор, и я не могу просто так перевести курсор мыши с одного монитора на другой, приходится делать $mainMod workspaceNumber на клавиатуре
я уверена, что так быть не должно. чяднт?
тут должно бы быть описание того, что я уже сделала, но я не знаю, как тут подступиться. сёрчила и нашла, что это имеет какое-то отношение к скейлингу, но у меня нет скейлинга мониторов 
@praetor@mstdn.socialI kinda looked into the #hyprland controversy, and...I mean, I'm a #FOSS old fart. Sometimes you do need a thick skin in this community. But a couple things are alarming. Like changing people #pronouns on Discord without their consent. That really goes well beyond what is acceptable. It's find to disagree, and that sort of discourse is what keeps the community going. But...that....ehe....let's not do that.

He's take me out to his shop with all his tools, and clean tables - what we gonna make, Papa? "Fuck if I know, boy. Something". So I can start off and just let things evolve how I want. #linux

Nepaisant skirtingų grafinių aplinkų architektūros ir veikimo principų, pagrindiniai atminties išteklių vartotojai yra pačios programos, o ne darbalaukio aplinka. Dar kartą įsitikinau, kad optimizuojant sistemos išteklių naudojimą, didžiausias dėmesys turėtų būti skiriamas programų, o ne darbalaukio aplinkai.
