Ok guys I bought the domain emacs.social and I am thinking about setting up a mastodon instance for us emacs users. Would this be something the community would like? I feel that we should have a place on the fediverse that we can call home. #emacs Let me know what you think!

I’ve been using #dracula theme for #emacs for almost 2 years now. My eyes got used to the colors of variables, operators etc. Every now and then one needs change and I kind of like modus-vivendi dark themses. However my mind somehow refuses now to adjust because it has mapped the syntax coloring to the dracula palette. Do you change your themes often and do you have the same problem?

Ooh it gets better. When I said there is no string-builder the response (emphasis from Gemini) was:

"While string-builder /is/ part of Emacs since version 27.1, if you're encountering issues there might be something unusual in your specific environment or load path."

Translation: Stupid meat-bag

🤣

Having an argument with Gemini about the string-builder library that was (not!) introduced into #Emacs 27.1 is surreal (and somewhat fun).

"The string-builder library (string-builder.el) is indeed part of GNU Emacs." - Love the snark! 🤣

I asked for references and it's linked to non-existent pages in the Emacs info pages, on gnu.org and even in the Emacs News file!

The #SpicyAutocomplete (thanks @pluralistic for the term) is telling me that my 29.4 needs to be upgraded to 27.1. 🤦‍♂️

What's everyone's take on the "best" #emacs for macOS? I've been using the railwaycat/emacsmacport/emacs-mac via homebrew for a long time, but that seems to be still at 29.1.

Are there any other good Emacs ports to macOS out there that I should be looking at?

I saved ~15 GiB by running ‘M-x gnus-agent-expire’ (Gnus!), something I had probably never done.

Which makes me wonder: how do folks using offlineimap + mu4e and similar tools expire their local maildir?
