I've searched high and low and can't seem to tell what's correct here. It doesn't help that I'm not an Android user.
What I'm trying to determine is if Google Android devices have an option to allow SMS or RCS (Google's version of iMessage) only from people in your contacts list? I see the option exists for calls, but it's unclear if it exists for messages. Thanks!
@briankrebs I know there are applications that can do this on Android. The API allows applications to manage messages for you, which I don't believe is allowed on the Iphone.
When I search, I see several applications that claim to do this, but since I've never tried any of them, I'll refrain from recommending any.

I use https://f-droid.org/fr/packages/spam.blocker/ which also handle whitelists for incoming SMS. SpamBlocker can import settings to include your whitelist.
