I have a #Linux machine with 32GB RAM and barely use 8GB of it. I run #Firefox with hundreds of tabs, open #Haskell, #Rust, and #PureScript projects all at the same time. Have #Telegram and #Discord apps running, and the memory usage still hovers around 8GB.Seems like I should be using Docker and Kubernetes just to feel like I'm using my machine to its potential
@haskman create a RAM disk, just because you can :D
@thijsvanulden Yup, I might do this!
@haskman you can migrate to Windows. Your machine will start swapping to disk immediately, the CPU will be pegged, and the fans will go crazy. Really feels like you're working hard even when you're not doing anything. It's an awesome feeling which I can highly recommend.
@haskman I have 64 GiB and use some of it for /tmp and /var/tmp. Speeds things up a bit and avoids some writes to the SSD. Needless to say my systems don't have swap -- and never were in need.
Might have bought 128 MiB, but 64 was the economic sweet spot.
@frank Great idea! I might do this
