Hello #functionalcafe people. It's been a while since we voted to migrate this instance to #Pleroma.
Unfortunately, at the moment, we have some issues to migrate the statuses: the only migration tool (https://gitlab.com/soapbox-pub/migrator) doesn't work with our version of Mastodon. If any #Ruby programmer has time/will to give a hand, it's welcome.
Another possibility is that I set up the new Pleroma instance on a subdomain and slowly every user can migrate their data at their own pace... Of course, I'm open to suggestions.
@minoru
That's the actual issue, looks like somehow Mastodon itself fails to serialize old toots.
The second option looks more viable to me. I need first to write/record a tutorial about how to migrate user's own data from one server to another. I'll work on it.
@mdallastella If the appeal for help with the migration script doesn't work out, I'd be happy to migrate my data myself.
@mdallastella
That's described in https://gitlab.com/soapbox-pub/migrator/-/issues/8, right? I want to write a separate toot asking for help, but want a bit more detail than "doesn't work" :)
I'm personally okay with that approach. You would probably need to bug users a bit, e.g. write toots every week urging everyone to migrate. Pity that we'll probably loose old toots from inactive users, but oh well.
