Can we make this (or another post)
get +500 boosts, proofing that the argument to stay away from the #fediverse because one can here only reach out to a few is completly wrong?
Wondering how high the reach of this post is?
Well, we don't know. We don't track the users.
You only can see the boosts/fav/reply.
If that's a lot, it reached a lot.
If that made one rethink their opinion here you go:
https://joinmastodon.org
(there is also
#gnusocial #plemora #postactiv #friendica #hubzilla..
@paulfree14
ok we have here already a toot with +400 made by @cassolotl
thought that is a proof that you can gain great reach via #Mastodon
so fuck of #twitter 😜
@paulfree14 I have on average more interaction on Mastodo, than I had on Twitter. Probably because there is less noise over here.
@paulfree14 @jeroenpraat There is no way the user numbers are as great as Twitter claims them to be.
Of course, they are still big, but I think the attention they're getting is more reflecting on the types of people using (journalists, celebrities) rather actual usage.
@loke @paulfree14 All social network have a large percentage of inactive users. Also on Mastodon.
@jeroenpraat @paulfree14 Of course. But I don't think anyone actually counts the inactive users on Mastodon. It's not like there is any stock price depends on it.
@loke @paulfree14 That's true, but when people say Mastodon has almost a million users, you have to keep this in mind:
1. minus a large percentage of inactive users (like on all social networks)
2. minus a lot of people that have accounts on multiple instances
3. plus a few thousand people from other parts of the fediverse (GNU Social, Pleroma, Hubzilla, Friendica, etc.)
@jeroenpraat @paulfree14 That's true. It's not like I ever trusted those usage numbers anyway. I also have to admit that "reach" is not the reason I'm using it.
@jeroenpraat @loke
...that tweets being regular linked in articles also drives a lot attention.
So yes journalists and celebreties.
