Do NOT install #NewPipe through the Samsumg Galaxy Store!

A copy of #newpipe is currently distributed through the Samsung Galaxy Store by a third party. The package id of that version is identical to the officiail one (org.schabi.newpipe), but the signing keys differ.
Surprisingly, users running an outdated version recieve a notification to update their installed version with the one uploaded in the Galaxy Store.

@tobigr does newpipe still work? I've been using the one from F-droid but a few months ago it stopped being able to view youtube videos and instead I get an error message.

I switched to skytube for youtube viewing but I'd love to go back to newpipe.

@loke @tobigr NewPipe works.

That happens regularly. YouTube changes something and breaks NewPipe, NewPipe team has it fixed in a day or two. That just happens to NewPipe like every two months or so.

Every once in a while it also stops playing some videos. From my experience that's usually fixed by exporting your data, deleting all the app's data, importing the app's data, answer NO to importing settings, then it works normally again.

@quad @tobigr yes, that used to happen. But the last several months I've regularly tried, it never works and I check F-droid and there is no update.

@loke @tobigr I download straight from https://newpipe.net/

F-droid is too slow to keep up with those fixes. Takes weeks before F-droid is fixed at times. NewPipe have their own F-droid repo too now. But from my experience it's still faster to just install their apk directly.

You should add Newpipe's repository to the fdroid client
