If you're on Matrix and want to be on the same channel as I am (not that there is a good reason to want to do that) I have a channel on my server:

@loke How much of a PITA is matrix to self-host (relative to xmpp and jitsi-meet, if you know those).

@bremner Not much. Following the instructions is quite simple as long as you have some basic knowledge of nginx and Postgres (the documentation omits a few points how to set up Postgres, assuming you know how to do that).

It's been a long time since I set up an XMPP server, so I can't compare with that.

Jitsi was probably a bit easier, but that's mostly because Jitsi was very easy to set up, not because Matrix is in any way hard.
