I have a fascination with #Cobol too. I love how its goals of user friendliness was created back in the 50s. I love how it refuses to die.
I also love how the systems that use Cobol show how documenting business rules are the hardest part to document. The code is system documentation, so we know it works, but most people don't know why.
And I love it how it was Grace Hopper's language.
@loke I don't have the time now, but I would like to write something on Cobol just to get a feel for what it was like.
I also feel like there is probably a number of things that we can learn from it. Maybe some features that have been reinvented a number of times.
@hugoestr From time to time I decide to implement something in COBOL, just to play around with something that is very different. I've never written anything major in it though.
