I enjoy reading about old computer technology, especially programming languages. I am currently reading about #Fortran and reading a tutorial for fortran 77.
@loke I need to find this book. You are the second person who recommends it in the last month.
@loke Thanks for the recommendation. The book arrived yesterday :)
@hugoestr so what's your thoughts? I have enjoyed reading the actual AGC source code after reading the book. You can actually understand it once you know how it was designed.
@loke Wow, really? Where did you find the source code?
@hugoestr it's on Github. There is a project which have converted the scans of the source code to text files.
@loke What am amazing project :)
@hugoestr If you enjoy reading about old technology, I can recommend the book The Apollo Guidance Computer: Architecture and Operation. https://www.springer.com/gp/book/9781441908766
I've been reading it recently, and it's the right book for a geek to read about the AGC. As opposed to pretty much all popular texts on it, it goes into really low level, explaining the instruction set and software, as well as the hardware and external devices that it communicated with.
