I've come to the conclusion that the only way to change the onboard LED's is to dual boot Windows and install the utility.
I'm usually not foul-mouthed but so far Windows fuckin' sucks, and I haven't even gotten to the installation part yet!
A nothing post about USB sticks. Show more
I don't like how USB sticks and SATA drives are seen as the same thing by my machine. On my laptop computer I format USB's with the standard "mkfs ext4 /dev/sdb" or something (been a while) but if I put a USB stick in my /main/ machine, I have to run "mkfs ext4 /dev/sdc" because /dev/sdb is my second hard disk.
I never actually formatted my second drive, but I came pretty close a few times before thinking "oh yeah, that ain't no USB drive!"
I've been playing some of those racing sim games and holy nuts those steering wheel controllers are expensive!
For the price it takes to build a racing sim setup I could buy my own car and drive it around!
If storage capacity stayed the same after 1986.
"Final Fantasy XV only has 118055 install floppies, how come no-one's buying our game!?"
(I spent the past 5 minutes figuring out exactly how many floppy disks I'd need just so the joke would be accurate.)

Found an old ADSL ethernet router, thought it would be fun to try...
"Alright, install a CAT5e port in my wall, plug an RJ11 cable into the router & wall, plug the Ethernet cable into the PC and router - Easy!"
I think my power adapter's voltage was too high, because a few seconds after plugging it in...
"Hisssssss... BANG!" [smoke pours out]
Now I'm sitting here all sad with an awful smell and a fried router.
Those networking courses didn't help me at all!
Cause, you know... There are *totally* well-defined mountains and hills in these pictures.
Catholicism and them pedos. Show more
To all them pedophiles in Pennsylvania,
Fuck you for giving us Catholics a bad rep. 🖕
On a similar note, my (non-pedophile) priest is retiring at the end of the month because he's like 93. Since the church is pretty old they'll be tearing it down once he leaves, so it'll be quite a change for the people there! I don't know what else to do on Sunday morning 😅

"Our writer's room is 100% female"
Hm, but if Raye Rodriguez, the creator & a writer for the show, is a transboy, and transmen are in fact real men, then wouldn't that make the writer's room *not* 100% female?
Or am I confused and the *creator* of the show just doesn't want to do any writing? 🤔
As for the show itself, I have no idea what it'll be like & I hope it's not just another cartoon made to push an agenda. The art style is cute, at least! Not anime, but cute.👌
Hurd Show more
Last time I tried #Hurd, several years ago, it was notoriously unstable: crashed even in #Qemu, so I couldn't actually do anything with it.
This time it was a different story: all the usual functionality was present and reasonably predictable. Few exceptions I've noticed: bash assuming util-linux (couldn't find lsblk for Tab completion in /dev, and partprobe doesn't work — reboot to make newly created filesystems visible). After apt-get update, all the usual packages can be installed & used.
The clouded sky, speckled with snowflakes, was orange from the city lamps.
The young girl stood, and breathed in a moment of silence, before pulling her sled back up the hill.
You know... Life really is the little things, but why am I even thinking of winter? And why am I not asleep...
Good night, Fediverse.
Just got news that Terry A Davis is dead. I'm sad today.
Simply by chance I found this place.
My entire life I have had a memory from this place, standing by these trees, but I always thought "It must be from a dream, or even a vision of an afterlife, but this cannot be a place on Earth"
I asked my dad & he assured me he took me here when I was 4. You have no idea how much this means to me - I've been searching my entire life in hopes of finding this place again. It's just as calming & meditational now as it was then.
speaking of hot men, I'm working on a commission
Without fail this always happens.
When I need to write anything very neatly, the pen doesn't produce ink. I test it on my hand - works fine. I test it on another piece of paper - works fine.
I go back to the important paper, the ink is very thin and cuts in and out. I end up pressing hard and scratching the pen back and forth until my writing is somewhat legible.
Now it looks like it was written by a blind angry six year old ogre but I'm too fed up to re-write anything anymore.
I write code in Lisp, I live in Canada.
Currently very interested in GNU Hurd
