I love this picture on so many levels.
For starters, the amount of care that the artist made in getting the machines and other computing paraphernalia correct.
But also because it encapsulates the promise that computers had in the 1970s. The sheer optimism that computers could really change the world in a positive way.
I still think they can. I refuse to believe that we've corrupted computing beyond that optimistic phase.
@craigmaloney
Computers have changed the world a whole lot (in a good way!). For instance:
Electric hand dryers / computerized note taking & time management greatly reduces paper waste.
Self driving & electronic vehicles, along with modern engines reduce fuel consumption & create less air pollution in large cities.
Debit/Taler/cryptocurrency reduces the amount of cash that needs to be printed.
I truly believe that the world has gotten *much* greener since it was, say, 50 years ago!
Although I don't agree completely with this article, a lot of it is true, however, I still believe in the enhancement of technology, and that it has, and will, create more livable lives.
