I think conventional forum sites hold a much higher level of user experience & integrity than unified forums (like Reddit) or social media (Fediverse).

Maybe not "higher" but "different".

Having to access the domain, create a unique account, and fill out a "Captcha" box is something very few spammers/trolls would care about doing, whereas on Reddit you already have access to every other sub around.

I kind of miss the old forums I used to be active in (even though I was usually "the idiot" 😅).
